Pumpkin Patch season is here!
Notice I didn’t say fall is here. Unfortunately, we all know what the weather report says. Nonetheless, with October upon us, families are definitely starting to head out to pumpkin patches very soon.
And, friends, let me tell you there is no better pumpkin patch around these parts than Sweet Thistle Farms. Yes, I’m a little biased because they’re a partner and we have great food trucks there every weekend. But everything about it is great. Smaller kids and moms will love it.
It’s one of those places that’s from another time. Old school fun, you might call it. You can pick your own pumpkins from the farm. Tractor rides. Great artisan goods to try. I said food trucks, right? They even have tetherball. Talk about old school fun.
It’s open Saturdays and Sundays until Oct. 31. You buy tickets by the carload. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it.

Yelp’s Restaurant Week is coming up soon and Fresno Street Eats is honored to be a part of it. Yelp is having a Restaurant Week kick-off party on Thursday, Oct. 8 at Tioga Beer Garden and we helped curate a food truck lineup that includes some trucks with unique, newer and trendier offerings — so you’ll see Papas Locas, El Jabalito, Chill & Thrill and Willy’s Phillys out there.

As you see right above me, Taco Truck Throwdown is coming up. If you don’t have your tickets yet, get ‘em. Trust me. It’s gonna be great this year.
But this isn’t a sales pitch. Actually, I want your input. One of my favorite activities within Taco Truck Throwdown is the Salsa Throwdown. This is more for restaurants and/or salsa makers to vie for top honors.
So I want to hear from you: Who do you think has the best salsa in the Central Valley? We’ll try to get them in Salsa Throwdown this year.
